Education is the key to weight loss

When I used to work as a former Co-founder/ Head Coach of FMA Fitness, almost everyday we used to receive a number of calls or walk-ins with prospects asking us for a guarantee for their weight loss. I have witnessed same thing when I was in Melbourne, Australia. I am pretty sure that it’s a common thing happening in gyms all over the world. There are a few things which call for our attention that we need to be aware of related to this. So, let’s take a look at what they are and why Education is the key when it comes to weight loss goals. Ask yourself these questions:

  1. How Consistent are you? – To better explain this very important point, I will give you the recent example of my elder brother. My brother is a very busy high level executive working with one of the reputed organisation. He switched company at the end of last year and relocated to a new state for his new role. As a result of this new change, he was not able to focus on his exercise schedule for a few months and then Covid-19 started. Around 2 months back, my brother felt the need to start exercising again as his strength, stamina, body shape and muscle tone were impacted. Now, getting back into strength training became a “must” for him. To achieve his original strength and get more stronger, he decided to join me in training Kettlebells which I have been doing consistently since the lockdown started, read it here. He hardly misses any training sessions with me no matter how busy his schedule is and that’s why he has started seeing results. His strength has increased, he is moving better, his inches have reduced from the midsection. His back strength or posterior chain strength has increased and his lower back muscles are so much stronger now. Ask yourself if you have been training earlier, how consistent have you been?
  2. How much time have you invested in learning about the Science of Fat Loss? – To cover this point, I shall share two great examples, first one of Dr. Weston A Price’s book and second of Paul Chek. Few years back, I came across the work done by a famous Dentist Dr. Weston A Price, who decided to travel around the world to spend time with local tribals and study their health by observing their teeth and bones. He documented his work in his book, “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and their Effects”. Please checkout this YouTube video showing old footage of his travel and how he is comparing the traditional diet effects on teeth and bones of the natives with the harmful effects of Modern Day processed diets. Dr. Price study and work proved that people who ate the local traditional whole foods had perfect health and teeth as their bodies got all the required minerals and vitamins like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, Vitamin A, D, E, K etc. The generations of these local tribals suffered health loss and had dental issues if they were fed refined processed foods. Second example is of Paul Chek’s work called “The 4 doctors you will ever need”. Watch him explain in brief in this video about these 4 doctors namely Dr. Movement, Dr. Quiet, Dr. Happiness and Dr. Diet. He talks about the importance of these 4 doctors which includes spending time in meditation, nature, being happy, making movement and exercise as a daily part of your life, connecting with your highest values, eating locally grown organic foods free from chemicals, listening to your body, etc. Checkout Paul Chek’s blog here https://www.paulcheksblog.com/

If you look at it, in the above points lies a huge amount of information and the work to be done on us to achieve the Best Health possible. Short term fixes are not the way to go, you need to understand this otherwise you are bound to make the same mistakes again and again and you will most likely become a prey to those people promising you fast results. The choice is entirely yours.
